Odell was laid out by Sydney S. Morgan and Henry A. Gardner on 10 August 1856.[4] Both men were railroad engineers who had worked on the survey and construction of what soon became the Chicago and Alton Railroad.
Odell is located the “Mother Road” Route 66 and is also on I-55 at exit 210 and is located between Pontiac and Odell in central Livingston County.  Odell is 85 miles southwest of Chicago, 49 miles southwest of Joliet, 40 miles southwest of Kankakee, 50 northeast of Bloomington and 74 miles north of Champaign.
Parks and Recreation
Odell has a Miller park located on the southeast side of Odell and an outdoor swimming pool and pavilion located on the north side of town.

Odell is a great place to live and raise a family.  Odell has a post office, grocery store, convenience store, gas station, two taverns that serve food and a family restaurant.

Odell has a grade school and high school students attend Pontiac Township High School.  Odell is close to doctors office located in Pontiac and Dwight and OSF St. James John W Albrecht Hospital.  Amtrak train service is available in Pontiac and Dwight.
